Russia could begin construction of a 2,000-4,000 mW nuclear power plant in Vietnam in 2010, state-owned nuclear power generating monopoly Rosenergoatom said Wednesday.
Vietnam plans to commission its first nuclear plant in 2015-2020 and a delegation from Atomstroiexport, Russia’s state-run company that builds the facilities overseas, attended an international nuclear energy exhibition in Hanoi on May 16-19.
“Atomstroiexport is ready to implement the entire project on a turnkey basis as well as to organize training for Vietnamese personnel,” the press service quoted the company’s First Vice President Alexander Glukhov as saying.
The Russian delegation conducted talks with the Industry Ministry, the Science and Technology Ministry, the Atomic Energy Commission and the Energy Institute of Vietnam.
Atomstroiexport is Russia’s leading company implementing intergovernmental agreements on building nuclear facilities overseas. It is the world’s only company building five power units for nuclear power plants in China, India and Iran.
