TecStar has been awarded the world’s largest contract for triple junction solar cell assemblies by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, Sunnyvale, CA. The assemblies will be used on Lockheed’s A2100 satellite bus. TecStar will provide 161 kilowatts of power to LMMS through December of 2000.

The triple junction solar cells were developed by TecStar in conjunction with NASA and the U.S. Air Force and currently power the Deep Space 1, TRACE, and Mightysat 1 satellites.

TecStar is proud to be a strategic partner of LMMS and signed this long term agreement to give them the highest efficiency solar cell assemblies in production world-wide.

TecStar, Inc. powered NASA’s hugely successful Mars Pathfinder mission with its solar cell assemblies. The Company has been manufacturing solar cells since 1954 under the banner of Hoffman Electronics Corporation, and supplied the first solar cells to power a U.S. satellite, Vanguard I, in 1958.
