PanAmSat last Friday (September 10) announced the launch of Galaxy Gateway, a global platform for the delivery of international full-time television and video programming to its Galaxy cable fleet. Leveraging the power of PanAmSat’s hybrid satellite and fiber network, broadcasters will be able to transmit content to more than 9,500 cable systems in the U.S. from locations around the globe.
“Galaxy Gateway provides broadcasters with end-to-end transport services that deliver full-time international programming to the leading distribution network of television channels in the U.S. from almost anywhere in the world,” said Mike Antonovich, executive vice president for global sales and marketing, PanAmSat.

Broadcasters who utilize the Galaxy Gateway have access to PanAmSat’s global hybrid network comprised of 24 satellites, 22,000 miles of video fiber and 34 POPs in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America.
With established relationships between PanAmSat and international service providers, Galaxy Gateway is a seamless, end-to-end delivery service to the Galaxy cable neighborhood including the pre-eminent HD neighborhood in the Americas.
PanAmSat’s wholly owned Napa Valley and Atlanta teleports as well as its partnerships with teleports around the world provide programmers access to cost-effective contribution services on the Company’s multi-channel per carrier (MCPC) platforms.
PanAmSat’s Galaxy cable neighborhood is specifically designed to support bandwidth intensive transmissions and boasts the leading names in the cable industry as customers.
The neighborhood includes PanAmSat’s “Power of Five” antenna program, which provides qualified cable operators with simultaneous access to five Galaxy neighborhood satellites.
