Iridium Satellite announced Monday the appointment of Tallahassee Technologies as value-added manufacturer, and Global Marine Networks and Global Technology as new value-added developers .

Iridium VAMs provide packaged voice and data solutions for specific vertical markets using Iridium L-band transceivers (LBT) integrated with their own hardware and software. Iridium established its VAD program earlier this year to develop relationships with companies that have a particular technical expertise or capability to develop new products or solutions using the Iridium network.

Tallahassee Technologies (Talla-Tech) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tallahassee Communications Industries (Talla-Com). Both companies are located in Tallahassee, Fla., and are owned by Tadiran Communications. Talla-Tech provides computer and communication systems focused on military and homeland security applications.

Global Marine Networks provides a complete portfolio of wireless communication services for the marine industry, including high-speed e-mail for satellite, cellular and HF/SSB radio systems; fast and reliable weather messages; and nationwide dial-up Internet access.

Global Technology Ltd is a U.K.-based company specializing in satellite e-mail, primarily for the worldwide maritime industry, offering a wide range of e-mail services for ships, including crew e-mail, SMS Manager, weather, news broadcasts and U.S. Coast Guard document transfer.

“Our expanding network of value-added partners is a major reason for Iridium¿s dramatic growth during the last three years,¿ said Greg Ewert, executive vice president of Iridium Satellite.
