EMS Technologies, Inc. announced last week at Satellite 2003 that the company had been selected by the U.S. Air Force/MJPO to support the Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) Nulling Antenna Study Program.
The study is aimed at developing the next generation of spacecraft antennas for military communications satellites. These new antennas will provide broadband communications to a wide array of mobile terminals in hostile jamming environments.
They also will enable backbone connectivity for implementing the Department of Defense’s Transformational Communication Architecture, the future of network-centric military communications.

These studies are viewed as a vital initiative by the Air Force to assure that the best possible antenna technology will be available in space to support our troops in the field wherever they go,” said Dr. Wyman Williams, vice president of Advanced Engineering, EMS Space & Technology Group/Atlanta.
“This study will help shape the next generation of America’s military satellite communications antenna architectures.”
During the first phase of the COTM Antenna Study, EMS will work with the Air Force to develop the best antenna configurations to serve the military’s requirements.
