DigitalGlobe and Keyhole announced a multi-faceted agreement to provide DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird satellite imagery and Keyhole’s Internet-based 3D earth visualization solutions to customers.

By deploying DigitalGlobe’s high-resolution imagery in concert with Keyhole’s applications for business decision makers, the agreement further accelerates the adoption of DigitalGlobe’s satellite imagery by commercial markets, and provides Keyhole customers with unprecedented coverage and currency of earth imagery.

The agreement allows for the use of DigitalGlobe’s natural color, two-foot resolution, orthorectified imagery of U.S. and international cities collected in 2002 and later.

The imagery will be integrated into the Keyhole Internet- hosted ASP database as well as Keyhole enterprise solutions, producing global contiguous mosaics overlaid on 3D terrain.

Geographic feature data, such as the U.S. road network and millions of points of interest, will also be included. Cities already available through this new agreement include New York City, New Orleans, Rome, Paris and London.

“Now the same combination of Keyhole’s 3D graphics and DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird satellite imagery that captivated television audiences worldwide will enable business users to interactively view the earth on their desktop,” said Steve Jennings, vice president of marketing for DigitalGlobe.

“By packaging the high-detail imagery and innovative 3D software applications together, DigitalGlobe and Keyhole open up new uses for imagery in markets such as business geographics, real estate, recreational planning and corporate intelligence worldwide,” Jennings added.

“More so than any alternative, DigitalGlobe’s high-resolution imagery gives our customers what they want — broader geographic coverage, higher resolution, and more up-to-date earth information,” said John Hanke, CEO of Keyhole.

“DigitalGlobe and Keyhole represent the vanguard of the explosion of geospatial data. As digital technology advances, Keyhole provides the leading conduit for business users to access massive databases of best-of-class data. Now business users will benefit from DigitalGlobe’s unparalleled imaging capability and Keyhole’s high-performance, productivity-boosting applications.”
