Atsonic Thursday announced that the Ontario-Montclair School District, second largest elementary school district in California, contracting with Atsonic distributor Millco Wireless Corporation, has deployed the Atsonic sweetFINGER for School-buses safety and security.

The Atsonic sweetFINGER for School-buses uses proven technologies embedded in the first ruggedized handheld PDA (RPDA), applying integrated Wireless Biometrics Identification (WBI), Global Positioning System (GPS) and Digital CDMA Wireless technology.

Using state-of-the-art wireless real-time biometric identification technologies, Atsonic sweetFINGER for School-buses integrates an enhanced and compact student and bus tracking system for reliable and secured boarding and disembarking history of students, in addition to new enhanced features for crisis management and emergency situations.

With Atsonic sweetFINGER for School-buses, each school-bus has a wireless terminal (mobile device) that is able to capture, process and display the identity of each child at the time of boarding or disembarking.

Using cutting-edge communication features, the sweetFINGER for School-buses terminal is able to communicate and synchronize data real-time with a secure district server via a secured wireless network.

The technology provides for real-time transmission of additional information – such as student identification, time and location of boarding or disembarking, passenger reports, field trip support, exact bus location with regard to traffic congestion, driver and bus information, expected and exact arrival times, routing and re-routing information around accident scenes, bus location in case of emergency, and overdue buses.
