Integral Systems have announced that the U.S. Air Force has begun Milstar satellite operations using the new CCS-C (Command and Control System – Consolidated) satellite control system.
This event marks the completion of the transition of satellite operations for the Air Force’s DSCS III and Milstar communications satellites from the legacy CCS (Command & Control System) to the new CCS-C system developed by Integral Systems.
The CCS-C provides modern, state-of-the-art satellite ground control capabilities for the Air Force’s MILSATCOM communication satellite programs and is being developed using Integral Systems’ EPOCH IPS (Integrated Product Suite) software.
At completion, the CCS-C will provide ground system control for the DSCS III, Milstar, Advanced EHF (Extremely High Frequency), and WGS (Wideband Gapfiller Satellites) families of satellites. Additional satellite programs, such as Transformational Communications, may be added to the CCS-C in the future.
Lt Col John Shaw, 4 SOPS commander said: “CCS-C, as the next generation of SGLS command and control capability, is a significant leap forward for us as Milstar operators. Its streamlined user interfaces and task processing capabilities make it extremely responsive and enable us to fly and fight our Milstar weapon system much more effectively for warfighters across the globe.”
David Bryant, Integral’s Director of Communication Satellite Programs stated, “Integral is very proud to have helped achieve the Air Force’s objective to improve satellite operations and reduce maintenance costs by replacing the aging CCS system with our modern, EPOCH IPS based CCS-C system. The on-schedule transition to DSCS and now Milstar operations validates our system’s flexible architecture as well as our system engineering approaches.”
Steve Roth, Integral’s CCS-C Program Manager stated, “The operational declaration of the CCS-C is a significant milestone for MILSATCOM, and this transition from the legacy system was accomplished seamlessly with no impact to the warfighter.”
