Hughes Network Systems has signed a contract with BP Corporation North America Inc. for Hughes to provide HughesNet Managed Network Services connecting BP’s retail locations nationwide. The four-year contract includes the installation and management of both DSL and satellite broadband technologies at over 10,000 retail locations.
The fully integrated, managed broadband network includes the migration of the network to IP, supporting new point-of-sale systems, and providing a platform for the delivery of potential future bandwidth-intensive applications yielding increased productivity and an enhanced retail experience for BP’s customers. More than 2,000 sites have been installed to date including both VSAT and DSL technologies.
The HughesNet Managed Network Service, is a fully managed, broadband offering that creates a seamless network for mid-to-large-sized enterprises by utilizing the most efficient and cost-effective technology available at each site.
The technology blend ensures timely, reliable delivery of business- critical information to and from any location while optimizing network performance and costs. In addition to creating a reliable, nationwide network, HughesNet Managed Network Services provides a single point of contact for enterprise-wide network management, while reducing associated administrative costs and complexity.
