A joint venture led by Northrop Grumman Technical Services Inc. (NGTSI) has been awarded a $2.2 billion contract to provide base operations support for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and the U.S. Air Force’s 45th Space Wing, which includes Cape Canaveral Air Station and Patrick Air Force Base. Job losses as a result of new efficiencies could reach 400.
In addition to NGTSI, the Space Gateway Support (SGS) joint venture includes ICF Kaiser Defense Programs Inc., Fairfax, Va., and Wackenhut Services Inc., Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The cost-plus award fee Joint Base Operations Support Contract (J-BOSC)
features a five-year basic performance period, beginning Oct. 1, and an option for a five-year extension.
SGS, which expects to employ more than 2,500 people for the program, will
provide project management; public works including engineering and
infrastructure; fire protection; logistics; information technology, and
administrative, protective, medical and environmental services.
NGTSI is a business unit of Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman company.
