Atlantis Arrives At Pad 39A Cape Canaveral (SPX) Feb 16, 2007 The Space Shuttle Atlantis arrived at Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 3:09 p.m. EST. Atlantis began its 3.4 mile journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building at 8:19 a.m. It traveled just under 1 mph. The launch of Mission STS-117 will be the first liftoff from Pad 39A in four years. The next milestone for this mission is a full launch dress rehearsal, known as the terminal countdown demonstration test from Feb. 21 to 23 at Kennedy. The flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station has been targeted for March 15. |

Orbiter Provides New Hints Of Past Groundwater Flows On Mars Pasadena CA (JPL) Feb 16, 2007 A spacecraft recently arrived at Mars has provided new evidence that fluids, likely including water, once flowed widely through underlying bedrock in a canyon that is part of the great Martian rift valley. The new color images from the HiRISE camera aboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show an equatorial landscape of hills composed of dozens of alternating layers of dark- and light-toned rocks, and crossed by dark sand dunes. Astronauts Prepare For Next Weeks Spacewalk Washington (UPI) Feb 15, 2007 NASA officials said preparations are on schedule for a Feb. 22 spacewalk despite last Sunday's power outage at the International Space Station. ILS Proton To Launch Ciel-2 Satellite To Serve North America McLean, VA (SPX) Feb 16, 2007 International Launch Services (ILS) has signed a contract for the launch of the Ciel-2 satellite on a Proton Breeze M vehicle in late 2008. Financial details were not disclosed. The Ciel-2 satellite will be the inaugural launch undertaken by the Ciel Satellite Group, Canada's newest satellite operator.
