NASA Uses Hubble To Reassure About Comet 73P![]() NASA said Thursday there is no danger that Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 - or any of its many fragments - will strike Earth during its closest approach next month. To provide further reassurances, the agency has employed the Hubble Space Telescope to take high-resolution images of the approaching object, and will soon follow suit with Spitzer to observe the fragments in infrared light. Next Ariane 5 Launch Set For May 26 ![]() Arianespace said Thursday it has scheduled the next launch of its Ariane 5 ECA heavy-lift vehicle for May 26. The heavy-lift mission will carry a payload of 8,250KG - representing the combined weight of the Satmex 6 and Thaicom 5 satellites. The launch is the second this year for Arianespace from Europe's Spaceport, and the company said it is planning four more launches in 2006.
