Santa Clara CA (SPX) Sep 14, 2004
Thales, global provider of Magellan consumer GPS products, announces the introduction of Magellan MapSend Lakes USA to enhance navigation for customers who explore the nation's top freshwater fishing and boating destinations.

Available in September 2004, MapSend Lakes USA delivers up-to-date, detailed cartography and other useful information for more than 1,200 lakes from the leading freshwater data providers, Fishing Hot Spots and Lakemaster.

Whether boating, kayaking or finding favored fishing spots, MapSend Lakes USA helps users plan the best routes to get the most out of their freshwater activity and safely find their way back.

MapSend Lakes USA gives customers an edge with map detail and navigation information such as shorelines, depth contour lines and shore facilities, including gas docks, boat ramps and marinas.

This simple and easy-to-use software also equips anglers with detailed data on underwater structures for the top fish producing lakes in the lower 48 states - useful information people might not know, even if they regularly fish in a particular lake.

Anglers will also benefit from knowing the specific species of fish in a freshwater lake or reservoir, as well as the habits and seasonal movements of the fish. In addition, the software provides tips on how to fish in specific locations of many lakes.

There are three versions of Magellan MapSend Lakes USA for three distinct regions: the South, West and North (which includes lakes in the upper Midwest and Eastern United States).

Each region is sold separately. Available in a simple, easy-to-use, preloaded Secure Digital memory-card format, MapSend Lakes USA is designed for use with Magellan Meridian handheld GPS receivers, the first line of GPS handhelds to provide expandable memory through the use of industry standard Secure Digital memory cards.

Since time-consuming downloads are not required, users gain immediate access to information so they can spend more time on the water.

MapSend Lakes USA software is compatible with the Meridian Color, Meridian Platinum, Meridian Gold, Meridian Marine and the basic Meridian GPS. Other MapSend solutions include the all new MapSend Topo Canada (available Fall 2004), MapSend Topo for the United States, MapSend DirectRoute North America and Magellan MapSend BlueNav as well as international titles.
