Simmonds Precision Products to overhaul UH-60 computers by Ryan Maass Washington (UPI) Feb 8, 2017 The U.S. Army awarded Simmonds Precision Products a $10.3 million fixed-price contract to overhaul mission computers for the branch's UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. Under the contract, Simmonds has been tasked with performing a minimum of 84 digital overhauls, with a fixed maximum of 494. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, funding for the project will be determined with each order. Work is expected to be complete by February 2022. The contract for the operation was awarded competitively, with bids solicited on the internet and one received. The Army Contracting Command in Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is listed as the contracting activity. The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a multirole helicopter used by the U.S. military in addition to 26 other armed forces around the world. Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has sold more than 3,000 Black Hawk units to various armed forces. The U.S. Army is the aircraft's most prominent user, operating approximately 2,300 UH-60 units.
