Sidus Space (NASDAQ: SIDU), a space and data-as-a-service satellite company, announced the demonstration of an advanced software solution supported by its FeatherEdge technology aboard its LizzieSat satellite, launched in March 2024 on SpaceX's Transporter-10 mission. This innovation, in collaboration with Xiomas Technologies, is a key milestone in the NASA-funded initiative to develop advanced thermal sensors, setting a new standard in space-based thermal sensing systems.

The FeatherEdge solution is a result of years of research enhancing the performance of thermal infrared sensors on satellites. Unlike traditional methods that rely on infrared sensors to collect data and downlink it to the ground for processing, FeatherEdge supports advanced algorithms trained on representative imagery to deliver high accuracy and reliability in thermal data acquisition and analysis.

"At Sidus Space, we are dedicated to advancing the frontiers of Space Based Data Collection," said Jeremy Allam, Vice President of AI Products. "The demonstration of FeatherEdge capabilities on LizzieSat represents a transformative leap forward in thermal sensing, allowing us to process and analyze time critical data on orbit. This advancement empowers researchers, scientists, and decision makers with timely and precise thermal data. Every second counts when fighting fires."

The deployment of FeatherEdge technology on LizzieSat underscores the efficacy of collaborative efforts between industry leaders and research institutions in driving innovation in space technology. By harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning, Sidus Space continues to spearhead efforts aimed at unlocking new possibilities in space exploration and Earth observation.
