Germany's Rheinmetall AG is to modernize system technology at the German Army Combat Training Center in a series of staggered projects. The projects, covered under contracts worth $26.9 million, include special expansion of the center's headquarters software for execution and evaluation of training sequences in the site's "Schnöggersburg" urban combat environment, and modernization of the training area's data communication system. The contracts are from the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support. Rheinmetall's Simulation and Training unit will perform the the work and ready the training center for MOUT -- military operations in urban terrain -- exercises. Rheinmetall said it will use its Legatus line of products for the modernization effort, which continues to 2020.
