Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL), a prominent provider of daily Earth observation data, has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Abelio, a French tech company specializing in advanced digital farming solutions. Abelio utilizes Planet's PlanetScope satellite data through the Planet Insights Platform to refine and expand its precision agriculture capabilities. This expansion will provide Abelio with access to nearly three times more agricultural data for France compared to their previous integration in 2023.

Abelio leverages complex algorithms and artificial intelligence to generate precise, actionable insights for farmers using Planet's satellite data. The integration with the Planet Insights Platform has enabled Abelio to scale their operations and integrate data streams from PlanetScope and Sentinel-2 efficiently. This system supports rapid data analysis and model training using near-real-time satellite information. The platform's API facilitates seamless importation of customer plots into Abelio's workspace, allowing automation that reduces development time and operational costs.

"We are very excited by this expansion with Abelio. With increased access to our satellite data, they can continue to strengthen their models and offer broader locations for customers," said Planet President Ashley Johnson. "With growing food demands and increased sustainability regulations, having advanced solutions for precision agriculture is critical for the 21st century."

Abelio's precision farming tools include a solution for nitrogen management that has already enabled farmers to cut nitrogen usage by 5-10% on average. This approach supports both economic gains and sustainable practices. The expanded contract aims to bolster Abelio's capabilities in irrigation management, crop monitoring, disease detection, and weed control, providing comprehensive support for farmers' diverse needs.

"We have a farmer-first approach at Abelio, and that means that we also look to deliver the most timely and detailed data into our agronomic solutions," said Samuel Bonnard, Head of International Business Development at Abelio. "Our work with Planet has let us smoothly analyze valuable near-real-time data streams and scale our solutions just over a few years."

Since 2018, Abelio has been using Planet's data and technology to develop and enhance its agricultural solutions.
