The first Airbus A400M ordered by the Spanish air force made its maiden flight on Monday, Airbus Defence and Space announced. The flight off the next-generation airlifter marks a key milestone toward its delivery, the company said in a statement. Known as MSN44, the aircraft took off from the A400M final assembly line in Seville, Spain, and landed nearly four hours later. The company said the aircraft's combination of strategic and tactical capabilities will transform the air force's air mobility operations.
