Two dead, dozens hurt in desert storm Nouakchott (AFP) Jul 23, 2006 Two people have died and dozens have been injured in a thunderstorm in the Mauritanian Sahara, AMI news agency reported. "Houses collapsed on their residents in the violent storm" in the town of Boutilimitt, 150 kilometers (90 miles) southeast of the capital Nouakchott, Friday, the agency said citing local officials. A child and an elderly woman died and some of the injured are in serious condition, AMI said. An unspecified number of families lost their homes. Related Links
