SEAKR Wins Weather Sat Contract Englewood - June 4, 1998 - SEAKR Engineering has been selected by Northrup Grumman Corporation, to provide up to eleven, 8 Gbit SSR pairs, (11 enclosures, 22 independent SSRs), for the United States Air Force's Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP). "This is a very important contract win for us. When SEAKR was first organized in 1982, The Small Business Administration launched the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program. SEAKR bid on one of the first topics released. It was sponsored by the Air Force and the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program. We successfully bid the requirement, and in 1983 the company was tasked, under a phase one contract, to study the replacement of un-reliable tape systems with solid state recorders for satellite applications." Eric Anderson, SEAKR's Executive Vice President said, during an internal company announcement. Anderson addded "It's amazing. That $50K study contract started this organization. Today, we are one of the most respected and well known manufacturers in Solid State Technology. It is because of programs like the SBIR and sponsors like the United States Air Force. We are very proud to have been selected to participate on this prestigious program." SEAKR will utilize its proven P9 architecture as the basis for the program. Changes will be made to the Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), software, and system form factor as required. The delivered systems will essentially perform as tape recorder replacements, including such functions as Last In First Out, Fast Forward and Rewind. SEAKR anticipates that the solid state recorder will enhance the overall system reliability by at least ten (10) fold. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in March of 2000.
