Celeritek Announces A New 1 Watt GaAs Power Amplifier Chip Operating From 2 To 20 GHz
Celeritek, a supplier of hi-rel GaAs-based components for the defense, wireless infrastructure, test instrumentation and satellite marketplace, announced Monday the availability of the CMM0016-BD, a 1 Watt, GaAs MMIC power amplifier operating in the frequency range of 2.0 to 20.0GHz. Extending its commitment to delivering high quality, reliable products that meet the customers demand, Celeritek's new power amplifier is available as a bare die and is manufactured using the Company's proven in-house GaAs pHEMT semiconductor technology. Designed for applications operating within the 2.0 GHz to 20.0 GHz frequency range, the device is an ideal solution for transmit, receive and IF applications. Typical specifications (@ 10 GHz) include high performance of 31.0 dBm, P1dB; linear gain of 9.5 dB; and saturated output power of 31.8 dBm. As a benefit to designers, the chip includes integrated on-chip DC blocking, is fully matched and is directly cascadable with other broadband driver amplifiers, currently available from Celeritek, to achieve higher gain performance. These features are all inclusive in a compact chip measuring only 2.32 x 1.30 x 0.076 mm. "The CMM0016-BD is one of the first fully-matched, broadband amplifiers delivering 1 Watt of RF power through the extended frequency range and uses Celeritek's repeatable 0.30 um gate etch-stop pHEMT process technology," said Damian McCann, Vice President of Advanced Marketing and Technology. "This compact, broadband chip offers an easy-to-assemble, single power amplifier solution, for manufacturers of products and systems for defense EW/ECM, test equipment, microwave radio and VSAT," he continued. Celeritek's CMM0016-BD is sampling now. The new power amplifier is priced at $285.00 in quantities of 100 and is available through Celeritek representatives and distributor Richardson Electronics-Worldwide. The bare die comes in GelPak packages.
