Russian Progress cargo ship docks with ISS MOSCOW (AFP) Jun 19, 2005 A Progress cargo ship early Sunday safely docked with the International Space Station (ISS) with more than 2.5 tonnes of supplies, including food, water and fuel, the Russian mission control said. Interruption of communications between the mission control and the craft forced Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalyov to dock the Progress manually, officials said, adding however that the move succeeded without any further trouble. Besides supplies, the unmanned Progress M-53 vessel is carrying packages from home for Krikalyov and US astronaut John Phillips, and snails from Georgia for a series of scientific experiments. The cargo also included audio tapes with nature sounds for the ISS crew, as experts determined that they have positive psychological impact on the cosmonauts, and several popular movies, both classic and new.
