![]() SEOUL (AFP) Sep 16, 2004 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., said Thursday that it had developed a new image sensor chip for mobile products, which it said had the highest sensitivity and the smallest size in the industry. The two-mega pixel CMOS image sensor (CIS) chip features the industry's smallest 2.8x2.8 micrometer pixel size and operates on only 80 miliwatts of power per second, it said. "Samsung's 2megapixel CIS chip commands the best sensitivity, chip size, and color reproduction features in the industry," Samsung Electronics Vice President Lee Yong-Hee said. "Our products support the industry wide demand for advanced performance. Samsung looks forward to introducing its CIS technology to the wide range of next-generation mobile products including digital cameras and camcorders," he said.
