The Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) have signed a contract for SSC to provide S-band ranging service to KARI for the satellite mission COMS (Communications, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite). The contract is worth 200.000 USD. "This is our first contract with KARI and we are looking forward to supporting them in such an important mission", says Mr. Alf skog, Account Manager, SSC. Korea has many new interesting satellite projects in the coming years and we are right now expanding our network with further ground stations that will fit well into their future plans. For this mission, SSC will use the Dongara Station in Western Australia, one of the stations within PrioraNet which is the SSC global network of ground stations for satellite communication. SSC shall support the S-band ranging from the COMS spacecraft and store the acquired data on on-site servers for further distribution via Internet to the customer. The period of performance will begin upon signature of this contract and continue until the 6 month in orbit test (IOT) phase is completed. If continuing support is required, a contract extension will be made between KARI and SSC.
