Ukraine has reached an agreement with Canada to jointly launch a Ukrainian surveillance satellite, the country's Ukroboronprom state defense conglomerate said Monday. The agreement was reached at the CANSEC 2015 conference, staged by the Canadian Association of Defense and Security Industries in Ottawa. "After substantiating the need for a surveillance satellite for Ukraine, the Ukrainian delegation reached agreements on cooperating with Canada within this project," the company's statement said. The sides also discussed ways to deepen cooperation between defense industries in the two countries, according to the statement. Last month, Ukraine announced its plans to put at least six satellites into orbit by 2022. Ukraine launched its first satellite in 1995 and has since placed ten spacecraft into orbit, according to the country's State Space Agency.
