Orbital ATK making non-standard ammunition for U.S. allies by Richard Tomkins Dulles, Va. (UPI) Jan 23, 2017
An undisclosed quantity of non-U.S. standard ammunition is to be manufactured by Orbital ATK for countries allied with the United States. The indefinite delivery/indefinite-quantity ammunition order came from the U.S. government on behalf of the Department of Defense. It is worth $50 million. Details of the specific types of ammunition to be produced were not disclosed. Orbital ATK operates the U.S. Army's Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Mo., and is the largest manufacturer of small-caliber NSA ammunition for the U.S. Department of Defense. The Department of Defense's Non-Standard Ammunition program for allies not using U.S.-made or NATO-standard weapons began in 2008.
