Northrop wins more than $81.2M for Hawkeye services by James Laporta Washington DC (UPI) Jun 08, 2018 Northrop Grumman was awarded two contracts from the Department of Defense on Thursday for services in support of the E-2 Hawkeye aircraft. The contract award from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is valued at more than $81.2 million between two contracts that enable Northrop Grumman to provide power amplifier modules and high-voltage power supplies to the E-2 Hawkeye aircraft, according to Defense Department contract announcements Thursday. Currently, the U.S. military uses the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye version of the aircraft, which is designed for all-weather, tactical airborne early warning detection that is capable of deploying from an aircraft carrier. Work on the contracts will occur in Florida and is expected to be complete in June 2023 for use by the U.S. Navy. Navy working capital funds from fiscal 2018 through 2023 will be used to fund the contract awards.
Taiwan F-16 fighter jet crashes, killing pilot Taipei (AFP) June 4, 2018 Taiwan's air force said the pilot of an F-16 fighter jet was killed after his plane crashed on Monday in the mountains at the start of annual live-fire drills. The single-seat jet disappeared off the radar over mountainous terrain in the northeastern county of Keelung at 13:43 pm (0543 GMT), 34 minutes after take off, the air force said.
