Lockheed gets Air Force S2E2 Increment 3 contract by Geoff Ziezulewicz Washington (UPI) May 27, 2016
Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. has been awarded a $49.7 million contract modification for the Space-Based Infrared System Survivable Endurable Evolution, or S2E2, Increment 3. The contract covers logistics support, legacy sustainment and combined task force support. Work will be performed in California and Colorado, with an expected completion date of December 2019. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center is the contracting activity. The service's Space Based Infrared System provides a transition to the nation's next-generation Overhead Persistent Infrared sensors to meet the needs of defense and intelligence communities in support of the missile early warning, missile defense, battlespace awareness and technical intelligence mission areas. The system includes satellites and payloads at various orbits as well as ground-based hardware and software.
