Iran opens two production lines to make drones: report

Tehran (AFP) Feb 8, 2010
Iranian Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi on Monday opened two production lines for the manufacture of "advanced" unmanned aircraft or drones, Fars news agency reported.

The drones would be able to carry out "surveillance, detection and even assaults with high precision," the report said.

Iran has in the past week been announcing a spate of technological and military achievements in the run up to the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution on February 11.

US missile volley kills 16 militants in Pakistan
Miranshah, Pakistan (AFP) Feb 3, 2010
A swarm of US drones fired off a large volley of missiles on an extremist stronghold in the northwestern tribal region of Pakistan, killing at least 16 militants, security officials said.
