Elbit delivers military aircraft for Affinity Flying Training Services by Ryan Maass Haifa, Israel (UPI) Nov 22, 2016
Elbit Systems has delivered its first military training aircraft for Affinity Flying Training Services, its joint venture with U.S.-based manufacturer KBR. The delivery included two Grob G120TP "prefects" to be used by the U.K. Royal Air Force for training new pilots. According to company officials, the contract was met ahead of schedule. "We are delighted to have delivered these aircraft only 9 months after contract award," Elbit Systems U.K. CEO Martin Fausset said in a press release. The G120TP are side-by-side two-seat aircraft built to accommodate trainees and their instructors. Elbit says the design is ideal for teaching basic aviation principles and handling skills in addition to basic navigation, instrument-only flying and night flying. Affinity Flying Training Services plans to purchase 38 of the aircraft to support three levels of training. Officials expect deliveries to be complete in 2017. "We are proud to be a part of this significant project and look forward to seeing more aircraft coming on stream next year," Fausset added.
