Total Traffic Network has announced a new multi-year agreement with TomTom to offer Lifetime Traffic Updates on several TomTom RDS-TMC equipped portable navigation units.

The new feature empowers users with real-time traffic information that helps them avoid traffic delays and other hassles on the road. At no extra cost, customers will receive these updates for the useful life of the device.

TomTom and Total Traffic Network first partnered in January, 2007 to provide real-time traffic on TomTom's portable navigational devices via a monthly subscription.

"Over the past three years, TomTom and Total Traffic Network have changed the way that North American drivers navigate today's complex roadways with accurate traffic information. With this new agreement, traffic information will become even more accessible," said Lance Locher, senior vice president at Total Traffic Network.

"Our customers have come to rely on up-to-date traffic information to get real-time insight into traffic events and avoid delays. Total Traffic Network has maintained the highest quality data standards. Our continued partnership ensures customers have hassle-free navigation over the life of their device," said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development for TomTom, Inc.

Total Traffic Network is the leading source of current traffic information, supplying real-time traffic data to more than 125 million users through partnerships with automotive manufacturers and navigation device makers.
