China Reports Breakthrough In Space Determination And Control Technology
Beijing (XNA) Jan 03, 2007 China recently reported breakthroughs in space tracking and control technology. Projects to develop sophisticated spacecraft orbit computing technology and USB-VLBI moon orbit determination testing and verification technology were undertaken by Xi'an Satellite Monitoring and Control Center, and recently passed an assessment by a panel of experts from China's space authority. The new technology will take the precision of orbit determination to an international standard, and will be the first time China has extended the orbit determination ability of its space monitoring system from the orbit of the Earth to the Moon. Satellite orbit determination and control capability is the core technology of space flight monitoring as well as an important basis for the evaluation of national space control technology. By focusing on new satellite models such as Red Earth 4, Xi'an Satellite Monitoring and Control Center have made a number of technological breakthroughs in terms of orbit determination and control. In particular, the accuracy of synchronous orbit attitude control has reached 0.01 degrees, the highest international standard in core technology.
