Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. said Monday it plans to offer premium long-haul economy class seats featuring more legroom, Internet access and connectivity for Apple mobile devices.
Chief Executive John Slosar said the seats would be a genuine upgrade over normal cattle class, with "generous recline and plenty of legroom", as well as the latest touchscreen televisions and more personal storage space.
"Earlier this year we introduced our new Business Class to great acclaim and Im sure our Premium Economy will have just as big an impact," he said in a statement.
"And our new long-haul Economy Class seat highlights our strategy of providing a superior experience in all classes of travel."
The seats will be available in 87 aircraft from April next year, starting with the Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver and New York routes.
Cathay Pacific last overhauled its long-haul economy-class cabins in 2006 with the installation of seats that move forward when passengers recline to give them more space.
