BAE to provide technical services for Army's 116th MIB

The U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command has awarded BAE Systems $100 million to provide technical and general support to the 116th Military Intelligence Brigade.

The contract, running over four years, will provide technical experts who will assist the 116th MIB to better understand regional threats.

"The demand for intelligence services and support continues to grow as our soldiers remain engaged on multiple fronts," Peder Jungck, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems' Intelligence Solutions, said in a press release.

"We are helping to better inform the military decision makers responsible for ensuring the security and effectiveness of global operations," Jungck said.

The contract will also update and improve soldier training in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems and procedures as laid out in the Army's 2020 Intelligence strategy.

The work included in the contract aligns with INSCOM's larger mission to consolidate, modernize, and strengthen its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities as outlined in the Army's 2020 Intelligence strategy document.

INSCOM is a joint organization between the U.S. Army and the National Security Agency to provide intelligence, security and information operations for Army commanders and national security decision makers. It's headquarters is located in Ft. Belvoir, Va.

INSCOM has counterpart groups within the NSA from the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps under the collective Central Security Service, which was originally formed to collate and analyze signals intelligence and cryptographic efforts from all four branches. Though current numbers are classified, as of 2002 the CSS had over 25,000 uniformed personnel.
