The agency will use the Trimble GeoXT receivers to collect and record GPS location data on the cultivated land and then periodically update the information.

Trimble announced last Friday it has supplied 156 of its GeoExplorer series of rugged GPS handheld receivers to Poland's Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture.

Based in Warsaw, this government agency is responsible for the proper implementation of European Union-related agriculture subsidies.

The agency will use the Trimble GeoXT receivers to collect and record GPS location data on the cultivated land and then periodically update the information. The agency's headquarters in Warsaw, as well as 12 regional offices throughout Poland, will use the Trimble equipment.

Each GeoXT will be equipped with the Polish version of Trimble's TerraSync Professional field software.

The GeoXT, which is part of Trimble's GeoExplorer series, combines submeter GPS technology with a rugged handheld computer running Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs.

The GeoXT allows users to collect location data and keep existing Geographic Information System (GIS) information up to date, whether in the office or in the field.

The GPS receiver and antenna are built into the handheld computer to provide a cable-free, integrated solution. In addition, the GeoXT offers Bluetooth wireless technology, delivering wireless connectivity for easy data flow between the field and the office.
