. Russia launches German radar satellite
MOSCOW, June 15 (AFP) Jun 15, 2007
A German radar satellite was successfully launched into orbit overnight by a Russian RS-20 rocket, Russian space officials said Friday.

"The launch of the foreign satellite went as normal," a Roskosmos space agency spokesman was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.

The TerraSAR-X satellite, due to remain in service for five years, will be used to take high-quality radar pictures of the Earth's surface, regardless of weather conditions, with resolution of up to one metre.
