Samsung develops world's largest TFT-LCD panel for high-definition TV
SEOUL (AFP) Nov 27, 2003
South Korea's Samsung Electronics on Thursday announced the development of the worlds largest TFT-LCD panel for high-definition (HD) television.

"The introduction of the 57-inch TFT-LCD further differentiates Samsungs TFT-LCD product line-up as it enforces the full HD feature panel availability that enables next-generation, high-resolution wall hanging TVs," it said.

Samsung, the worlds largest provider of TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) panels, has kept breaking new size records in the LCD industry.

In August 2001, the company announced the worlds first 40-inch panel, which was followed by a 46-inch panel in October 2002, and a 54-inch panel in December.

Samsung now has the broadest range of TFT LCDs for LCD-TVs from 15 to 57 inches and aims to become the top company in the monitor, LCD-TV, and middle and small sized panels by 2005, it said.
